Where do I begin? - To begin the application process, please select a user name and password that you will easily remember. You should write down your user name and password. You will need it to apply for other positions or check the status of your application the next time you visit the site.
Do I have to fill out an application? - Everyone who applies for a position is required to create an online application which includes certain information. Any required information is denoted with an asterisk (*). However, you may click SEARCH LISTINGS if you wish to see position openings before you apply.
How does the application process work? - Applicants will complete their applications online at http://jobs.ou.edu from any computer with internet access. Applicants will view open positions and apply to any listed by answering job-related questions. If referred, the application documentation will be viewable by the hiring manager.
Where can I get assistance in completing the application? - Computers and staff are available at the Office of Human Resources, NEL Room 205, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Can I apply to the same position more than once? - Applicants can only apply one time to each position. If you mistakenly logged out of the system without completing the application process, please contact Employment and Compensation Services at ohr@ou.edu or phone 405-325-1826.
Can I attach a resume or cover letter?- Yes. You may attach any required documents, such as a resume and cover letter, as you apply for each position. Electronic documents in Word or PDF format can be attached during the application process. There will be directions prompting you how and when to attach your resume. If you plan to attach a resume and/or cover letter using our computers, please bring these documents with you. Please note that attaching a resume does not substitute for completing the application form.
Can I copy selected information from another electronic document?- Yes; for example, you can copy and paste the information from a Word or WordPerfect document directly into the appropriate fields in the application form.
What if I need to edit my application materials? - You may edit your application at any time before you apply to a position. If you need to edit your application or other attachments after applying for a position, please contact Employment and Compensation Services at ohr@ou.edu or phone 405-325-1826.
How do I know the status of a position? - You will have the ability to monitor your status online.
How long before the hiring department can see my application materials? - If you meet the minimum qualifications and are an approved referral, the hiring manager will be able to view your application materials online.
What can I do if I did not get referred, but feel I meet the minimum qualifications?If you forgot to answer a question or feel you meet the minimum qualifications as listed, please contact Employment and Compensation Services at ohr@ou.edu or phone 405-325-1826.
How long are positions listed? - Hourly positions are listed a minimum of 5 working days or until the hiring department has received three approved referrals. Monthly positions are listed a minimum of 7 working days. Departments may choose to list positions longer to obtain additional applicants.
Can previous University of Oklahoma experience be a minimum requirement on the listing? - No. Requiring previous OU experience as a minimum requirement automatically screens out external candidates who may be in an underutilized and/or other minority or protected category as defined in federal and state statutes. You may list previous OU experience only as a preferred qualification. It is helpful if you express the specific OU experience that is required of the position.
How long must employment records be kept on file? - Anything (including interview notes) pertaining to a new hire must be kept for a period of not less than two years.
If a job is on "hold" can it be reopened? - Yes. A job may be reopened for up to 90 days after the job was first placed on hold. |
