New Employee Forms and Instructions

Step 13: Begin Insurance Enrollment

  • Benefits-eligible employees must complete their elections within 31 days of their date of hire or default into the base benefits programs with no dependent coverage. Qualified teaching assistants are covered under the Student Health Plan, not Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Oklahoma. Find more information about the Student Health Plan.
  • Benefits are effective the first day of the month following the date of hire.
  • The benefits enrollment process varies slightly among campuses. Your HR/Payroll Coordinator can help guide you; you may also contact your campus Benefits office for assistance.
1. Explore your options.
2. Plan to attend New Employee Orientation.

Health Sciences Center - Oklahoma City

  • You will be invited to attend New Employee Orientation.
  • Sessions are normally scheduled twice each month.
3. Complete enrollment.
  • Click here to access Employee Self-Service and enroll online.
    • A small number of Norman employees may not be able to enroll online. These employees should click here for an additional enrollment form.
    • You should enroll using Employee Self-Service even if you want the base benefit programs. You have 31 days from the date of hire to make your benefits selections. If you neglect to enroll in benefits during this time, you will be defaulted into the base benefits programs.
  • Retirement enrollment forms (Step 13) and any supplemental benefits forms should be returned to your Benefits Office.
