Associate Vice President, Research

POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Vice President for Research & Partnerships and Executive Director of the Office of Research Services at the University of Oklahoma - Norman Campus is responsible for ensuring the continuity of daily operations of all pre-award functions related to the administration of sponsored research and creative activities for the Norman campus and related programs on the Tulsa campus.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overall supervision of 20-30 individuals including one student; direct supervision for 5 individuals
  • Liaise with Legal Counsel, Export Control, Office of Technology Commercialization, Institutional Review Board, Information Technology, Risk Management, the Provost s office and other departments on matters related to the  administration of sponsored research and creative activities
  • Main point of contact for all non-funded collaboration agreements with industry, the federal government and other entities including but not limited to Teaming Agreements, Facilities Use Agreements, MOUs, MOAs, Land Use Agreements, and Equipment Loan Agreements
  • Coordinate Open Records Act request and subpoena responses for the VPRP s office
  • Continue to oversee the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act (FFATA) reporting, PHS-FCOI compliance reporting, and RCR compliance reporting
  • ORS point of contact for service/recharge center inquiries and approvals
  • ORS point of contact for University s business continuity process and the ORS business continuity plan
  • Member of the Security Governance Advisory Committee and Norman Campus Data Governance Committee


PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience with Sponsored Research Administration

Preferred Qualifications

  • CRA certification preferred

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Proficient navigating and maintaining databases
  • Knowledge of standard bookkeeping and accounting procedures
  • Advanced excel skills with ability to build and manipulate spreadsheets
  • Financial or accounting experience to include analysis, auditing, and budgeting
  • Able to understand a chart of accounts and code entries to proper account
  • Ability to speak, read, and write clear, concise English
  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions
  • Advanced computer skills with wide knowledge of business software
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff
  • Able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines
  • Strong initiative to solve problems
  • Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
  • Must be able to perform basic data analysis
  • Must be able to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations
  • Able to effectively evaluate projects/programs and produce comprehensive reports
  • Must be able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively
  • Must have strong ability to lead project teams
  • Must be able to create and deliver effective training presentations
  • Must have advanced/proficient/writing skills for composing audits, reports, and advisories
