Barbara and Tricia represented OU in Little Rock, Arkansas at the CUPA-HR (College and University Professional Association for Human Resources) Southern Region Conference in April. Their presentation, called "Retaining and Developing Engaged Employees," examined factors causing employee disengagement and how to develop engaged employees.

In OU-Tulsa's HR department, Barbara and Tricia's work has benefitted from their research. Both Barbara and Tricia work with managers and other departmental leaders to integrate effective HR management practices into daily operations. They help campus leaders address a range of human capital needs including, employee relations, workplace culture, communication and organizational design, policy interpretation, performance management systems, strategic planning, and implementation of best practices.

HR at OU encourages its staff to gain and share knowledge to remain current on industry issues, processes, and strategies.

Jamie comes to OU with over five years of Human Resources experience, most recently with Jacobi Kelley Personnel where she served as an Account Representative. She received her Bachelor's degree in Business Management with a Minor in Human Resources from Northeastern State University, Tahlequah. Jamie will be providing administrative support to the HR office.

Jamie grew up in Tulsa and moved to Norman a year ago. She has been married to her husband Kyle for almost 1 year. They have many hobbies together such as hunting, fishing, golfing, and anything else that involves being outside. GO OU!

Cathy Nimmo and Tracy CoxBest Wishes to HR Retiree

Cathy Nimmo (pictured on the left with Tracy Cox) from Norman retired from Human Resources in June. We thank her for seventeen years of dedicated service and wish her well in retirement.

When you visit or call the Employment and Compensation area of HR in Norman, the first person you'll likely talk to is Terri Smith. Terri's responsibilities include greeting and helping customers apply for jobs, answering questions about employment and the employment website, backing up Tracy Cox in the Peak area, and assisting Jennifer Moore in processing background checks for new employees. Terri has worked in OU HR for over three years and recently moved from the Payroll and Employee Services area to her current position. Terri has recently met three of her siblings for the first time! After years of looking, they all found each other. She is married to her husband Jerry, her daughter Paige also works at OU, and her family and animals (2 cats, Rascal and Nevaeh, and one dog, Scooter) are her biggest joys!

President-Elect of Oklahoma CUPA-HR

Eric was elected President-Elect of the Oklahoma Chapter of CUPA-HR (College and University Professional Association for Human Resources) at the spring conference in May 2011. In this role, he serves as the special aide to the President, and shall assume all presidential duties in the absence of the President. The President-elect serves as Chair of the Program Planning Committee charged with planning and implementing the annual conferences and meetings of the chapter. Prior to becoming President-Elect, he served on the board as a Director for Oklahoma CUPA-HR for three years (2008-2011).

As a Senior HR Analyst in Human Resources for the University of Oklahoma, Eric assists the university community with various employee relations issues and facilitates learning and development workshops. His areas of expertise include employee engagement, motivation, and recognition, ethics, generational diversity, leadership, and performance management. Eric also teaches as an adjunct instructor for the Department of Human Relations.
