Are you tobacco-free? Update Self-Service in One Easy Step.

As announced in 2015, tobacco-using employees will pay a $20 per month surcharge for medical insurance starting January 1, 2017. To encourage healthy behaviors and avoid the surcharge, tobacco-free employees must log in to Employee Self-Service and complete their tobacco-use designation (click on Self-Service > Personal Information> Tobacco Use Designation).

Recommended for Annual Benefits Enrollment: If you have never completed the tobacco designation, do this by October 1 for the best experience in the online enrollment portal. If you have already completed your tobacco-use designation, no additional action is required.

NOTE: All employees enrolled in OU medical insurance, even tobacco-free employees, will be automatically charged the higher medical insurance rate that includes the tobacco-user surcharge ($20/month) unless they TAKE ACTION in Employee Self-Service (click on Self-Service > Personal Information> Tobacco Use Designation). If you have already completed your tobacco-use designation, no additional action is required.

Thinking of quitting? If you’re a tobacco-user, visit the Healthy Sooners Quit Tobacco page for resources. No surcharge will apply as soon as you commit to quit by enrolling in a tobacco cessation program. Simply update your tobacco-use designation in Employee Self-Service (click on Self-Service > Personal Information> Tobacco Use Designation) to have the surcharge removed. Documentation does not need to be submitted at this time.
