FY25 Staff Merit Salary Program Approved

Revised 7/5/24

In their June meeting, the OU Board of Regents approved the request from President Harroz for salary increases for staff effective July 1, 2024. With this approval, the university continues to demonstrate its commitment to employees and our Lead On strategic plan by supporting a salary program for the third year in a row.

This pay increase is based on an employee’s calendar year 2023 Performance Review and the guidelines below. Most Norman, OKC, and Tulsa employees who were employed in regular benefits eligible positions prior to September 1, 2023, are eligible for this salary program. Pay increases are based on performance review scores and the program guidelines as follows:

Performance Rating Percentage Pay Increase
Exceptional 4.5%
Highly Effective 3.5%
Successful & Effective 2.5%
Development Needed 0%
Improvement Required 0%

For example, if you received an overall rating of “Successful & Effective” on your performance review and are eligible according to the program guidelines, you would receive a 2.5% salary increase.

You may review information about the staff annual performance review process here. If you have questions about your specific circumstance, please speak to your supervisor.

Academic appointments: Merit-based raises for employees in academic positions will generally follow the same guidelines as staff, with some exceptions based on funding or appointment type. For questions and information regarding merit-based raises for employees in academic appointments, including faculty and researchers, contact your college administrator or the Provost’s Office.

Eligibility Guidelines

Benefits-eligible staff must meet the following criteria to be eligible:

  • Appointed to a benefits-eligible position.
  • Hired before September 1, 2023.
  • Received an Overall Rating of "Successful & Effective," "Highly Effective," or, "Exceptional," on their CY2023 Performance Review.
  • Have a minimum 0.5 Full-Time Equivalency (FTE).

Benefits-eligible staff who had a job or salary change effective between September 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023, are only eligible for the lowest tier salary increase. Benefits-eligible staff who had a job or salary change on or after January 1, 2024, are ineligible to receive a merit increase. HR Compensation may approve some exceptions to these exclusions for specific market or equity adjustments.

How are these merit raises administered?

No action is required on the part of the employee to receive their salary increase. The raise will be effective on July 1 and will begin to be paid on the July 26 paycheck for most staff employees.

HR Colleagues, business managers, and financial administrators will receive email about funding for the raise program and reviewing pay information.
